Cinemas around Willesden

Lexi Cinema

194B Chamberlayne Rd, Kensal Green, London NW10 3JU, UK – 020 3011 5523

Quirky, unique and a cosy cinema. A real gem near Kensal rise/Willesden. It is spectacularly priced in comparison to major chains - both ticket and snack-wise. The staff (most of which volunteers I read) are friendly and helpful. A service rare to see occur whilst going to a larger chain of cinema. The screen is big and of fantastic quality, comfy seats with lots of leg room and the sound is perfect. The cinema has a homely yet romantic vibe to it. Perfect for a late night with friends or loved ones. Going to see a film and snacking away, all whilst knowing that profits go to charitable causes is a beautiful thing. If you are yet to experience a independent cinema in London, I would urge you to give The Lexi a go.

Magnificent local, independent cinema which gives its profits to a South African charity, serves local, bottle-conditioned ales and shows a well-chosen and interesting programme of films. We're so lucky to have the Lexi!

Cineworld Cinema - London Wembley

Park Ln, London HA9 0FD, UK – 0871 200 2000

Yesterday spent half of the movie sweating as there was so hot in screen 7! Fixed issue after 1 hour of movie. Still - should be warning about that before you purchase tickets.

Despite the fact it is a relatively new cinema complex it doesn't have many screens and definitely doesn't cater to all cinema audiences - it only shows major Hollywood blockbuster films or Bollywood films. The fact the cinema is situated in the London Designer Outlet, which is next to several student hostels, they refuse to screen intelligent movies or even films like Moonlight, Hidden Figures or Fences- Oscar nominated films that happen to have a Black cast. The only time you can get to see these films is if you have an unlimited card. You would think the staff would take into account that the cinema is in Wembley - a multicultural area. If you want to see a big dumb Hollywood blockbuster or Bollywood films, then this is the cinema for you. If you want something a bit more indie or more intelligent - forget it. I wrote this post pre- Oscar Awards 2017, before the awards, films like Moonlight and Fences were not being shown at the cinema until after they won awards, which i find disheartening. The cinema should cater for all kinds, not only popular films.

Electric Cinema

191 Portobello Rd, Notting Hill, London W11 2ED, UK – 020 7908 9696

This theater is historic and the inside looks very regal. There are nice arms chairs, couches or front row beds to choose from. We chose the front row bed and loved it. They are comfortable and appear to be very clean. They provide you with nice blankets. There is a bar with some snacks at the back of the theater. We absolutely loved it! Definitely recommend!

Great atmosphere, friendly staff, vintage looking. Great inside and out. Booked front row beds and they were very spacious and comfy, was able to see the whole screen perfectly. Alcohol available as well as sweets, cakes and ice cream. No popcorn and also quite hot in the room as poor or no air con.

Vue

Royale Leisure Park, Western Ave, Park Royal South, London W3 0PA, UK – 0345 308 4620

This place is awesome! Literally the best VUE that I have ever been to. If you are able to go there at around ~3pm - 5:30pm you will be in heaven. There's literally just a handful of people watching the movie(s) so normally you don't get any annoying people who eat/talk/do whatever else. It's truly a place where you can sit back and enjoy!

Best Vue cinema I've been to so far. Clean, spacious and friendly staff, thanks to Ryan in particular for helping us choose what film to watch on the night, he really knows his stuff. Overall a great experience.
